Chartered Legal Executive at Rothera Sharp becomes accredited SFE member
A Chartered Legal Executive at Rothera Sharp Solicitors has successfully completed the Older Client Law in Practice (OCLP) Award with Solicitors For The Elderly (SFE), to become the seventh member of the Wills and Probate department at the firm to become a fully accredited member of the SFE.
Rebecca Green is based at Rothera Sharp’s Long Eaton and Wollaton offices in Nottinghamshire and before completing the OCLP, had to pass SFE’s Older Client Care in Practice (OCCP) Award. The award signifies that she has the skills to communicate and translate legal advice into clear explanations of the options available to an older client and their family, and guide them through the process in a sensitive manner, said the firm.
By completing the OCCP and OCLP awards, members of the SFE show that they are experienced in regularly dealing with the legal requirements of older and vulnerable clients; as well as having a good understanding of both the needs and additional considerations – as well as the law – when acting for older and vulnerable clients, their families and representatives.
Members must also understand the physical and cognitive capacity limitations that might affect the way advice is given to older and vulnerable clients – and also have the requisite level of interpersonal soft skills and ability to communicate well with older clients.
The firm said in a statement:
“Alongside becoming accredited with SFE, Rothera Sharp also encourages lawyers within the Wills and Probate team to become fully accredited members of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners), to enhance the professional manner in which team members assist clients – as well as ensuring they are kept up to date on developments within the industry.”
In October, Rothera Sharp was ranked in tier 1 for Wills, Probate and Trusts in the Legal 500 guide – as well as retaining other high rankings for Transport, Family and Personal Injury.
The firm’s Family team maintained its position in tier 2 from the previous two years.
