Manchester law firm awarded Disability Confident accreditation
Manchester-based law firm Horwich Cohen Coghlan Solicitors (HCC) has been awarded official accreditation as a Disability Confident employer.
The firm has more than 25 years’ experience in handling Personal Injury claims, with clients who have suffered serious injuries looked after by a separate Major Trauma and Serious Injury department.
The Major Trauma and Serious Injury team covers a wide range of injuries, including children who have sustained major trauma injury – many clients can be seen by a Personal Injury specialist solicitor while they are still in hospital.
“This allows us to take proactive steps with a view to planning for maximum delivery of each clients’ particular rehabilitation and treatment pathway,” said the firm.
“In this specialist department we provide a bespoke personal service – and as every case is different we will spend as much time as is necessary with clients and their families on a ‘one-to-one’ basis to ensure we understand the individual needs and priorities of each client.
“Our Major Trauma lawyers provide a full service offering to seriously injured patients, so that all issues arising as a result of the injury can be addressed as and when they arise.
“While our focus in the early stage centres is on treatment and rehabilitation, we will also use our experience to ensure that full medical evidence from leading experts is gathered as the recovery progresses, so that we can secure the best possible financial settlement to provide for the future needs of each client.”
The firm says it uses the latest technology and claims management software to ensure that that claims are progressed quickly without any compromise on service levels.
“We understand that great service requires cutting edge IT and technology, but we also know that our people are the most important asset we have.
“Our exceptionally low staff turnover reflects the positive attitude and motivation across our departmentsn – and the pride that the Horwich Cohen Coghlan team has in the work we do.”
HCC now has 150 staff at its Manchester office – and says it is able to deliver “outstanding legal services to clients across all locations”.
“We are proud of the vibrant and dynamic environment we have established, and our department is driven forward by Directors, Partners and staff committed to delivering outstanding legal services to injured clients.”
The Disability Confident Scheme was launched in 2016. The scheme has three levels – Disability Confident Committed, Disability Confident Employer, Disability Confident Leader.
At each level, employers commit to taking actions that will make a real difference to disabled employment. To become a Disability Confident Leader, organisations must act as a champion for the scheme within their local and business communities. To reach this level organisations must also have their self-assessment validated from outside their business.
HCC says it is proud to be playing a small role in making the workplace “a supportive and positive place for all”.
