The National Association of Licensed Paralegals (NALP) says that, once studentshave a licensed qualification as a paralegal, there is nothing holding them back from entering “a diverse and interesting group of legal fields”.

NALP says that the NALP Level 3 Diploma in Paralegal Practice offers a complete professional education in everything paralegals need to know to begin work – after the introduction to the world of paralegal work with Introduction to Law and Legal Ethics and Responsibilities, students will then access the specialised knowledge to work in any legal field.

The units in Level 3 include Wills and Succession for Paralegals, Civil Litigation for Paralegals, and Criminal Litigation for Paralegals.

“The final part of the NALP Level 3 Diploma in Paralegal Practice dives into several different areas of law which your career as a paralegal could involve,” says NALP.

The final part of the Level 3 Diploma includes Conveyancing for Paralegals, Commercial Law for Paralegals, Employment Practice for Paralegals and

Consumer Rights and Remedies for Paralegals.

“You will gain a number of skills in these units, including the ability to identify and use factual, procedural and theoretical understanding to complete tasks and address well defined but complex or non-routine issues,” says NALP.

Students also learn time management, to include taking responsibility for initiating and completing tasks; the ability to exercise autonomy and judgement within a given scenario; and the ability to use and interpret legal language.

“By the end of this comprehensive course, you will be ready to enter the Paralegal profession with confidence,” adds NALP.

“You might also want to progress to a higher qualification such as the NALP Level 4 Diploma in Paralegal Studies.

“Whether you’re just starting out in the legal sector – or looking to develop your professional qualifications – the Level 3 Diploma provides an in-depth look at the skills and concepts you need to excel in the legal world.”
