Napthens continues expansion with family and corporate appointments
North West-based law firm Napthens has expanded its Southport team with the appointment of a highly experienced family law solicitor, Sally Abrams, who has been practising family law for 24 years, said the firm.
From the Southport office of Napthens, she will be serving clients in Sefton, West Lancashire and Liverpool, advising on matters such as pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, divorce, dissolution of civil partnerships, property disputes and matters involving children.
Napthens added that she has extensive experience in dealing with high-value pension arrangements – and complex matters relating to business owners and property portfolios. She is a member of Resolution.
The appointment follows Napthens’ move to larger premises in Southport in 2019, to allow for future growth.
“I am delighted to be joining Napthens at a time when the firm is expanding –
and I’m looking forward to playing a part in these growth plans and working with the firm’s clients across the area,” she said of her appointment.
Partner and head of Napthens’ Southport office, Tony Coates, added:
“Sally brings vast experience of family law to Napthens – and will play a key role in developing our private client service offering, as our growth strategy for the region continues.”
In January 2020, Napthens also added another member to its award-winning corporate team.
Senior associate solicitor, Jo Cooper, is based at the firm’s Preston office and joins Napthens after five years with Addleshaw Goddard in Manchester, where she advised businesses across a range of sectors on a wide variety of corporate transactions.
“She has worked on complex and sizeable deals, including the recent £220 million sale of a North West business to a US buyer,” said Napthens in a statement.
“Her experience also includes several months spent on secondment in the legal team of a FTSE100 company.”
The firm added that her appointment follows a record year for the corporate team, which transacted its largest volume of deals by value during 2019 and saw it ranked among the top ten in the Experian deals table for the North West region.
In October 2019, it won the Mid-size Law Firm of the Year category at the North West Insider Dealmakers Awards, which recognises mid-sized firms which have impressed over the last 12 months with their growth, mergers and acquisitions and activity.
