Herbert Smith Freehills sets up Digital Law Group

0212/2019

South West-based law firm Stephens Scown LLP has welcomed nine new solicitors to the team, after all completed their two-year training contracts at the firm.

The newly qualified solicitors spent a period of time with three different civil law teams at Stephens Scown while training – and have accepted appointments at the firm’s offices in Cornwall and Exeter.

In Cornwall, Brittany Allen and James Snell have joined the real estate team, while Megan Spalding joins the growing private client team. Jessica George trained in Stephens Scown’s Truro office, but has moved to the firm’s Exeter office and joins newly qualified solicitor Jack Saunders in the real estate team.

Newly qualified solicitors in Exeter – Tom Cox and Lucy Peters – have accepted roles in the dispute resolution team, with Tom Cox joining the construction sub team, having decided this was an area of law that he was particularly interested in as a trainee.

Rebekah Officer joins Stephen Scown’s expanding immigration team – and is the first trainee solicitor at the firm to qualify into this team.

Lucy Ferrat has joined the firm’s IP & IT team, with a view to developing her skills in these areas.

“Stephens Scown is committed to giving its people the opportunity to move between offices to follow their chosen career pathways,” said the firm in a statement.

Head of the Exeter family team and training principal for the firm, Liz Allen, leads the training team which supports all trainee solicitors from their first day, all the way to qualification. She said of the appointments:

“It has been a real pleasure getting to know the 2017 trainees over their years of training at the firm – and I am proud to see their progression from trainees into competent and well rounded newly qualified solicitors joining across a wide range of legal areas.

“They are a real credit to the firm and I look forward to seeing their successes in the future.”

Stephens Scown has now opened the application process for Trainee Solicitors in Devon for 2020/2021 – applications for Trainee Solicitors in Cornwall are also open for 2019/2020/2021.
