Napthens expands Employment and trademark and copyright teams
Regional law firm Napthens has added two new team members to its Employment law department, with both based at the firm’s East Lancashire office in Blackburn.
Safiya Sidat and Kaine Davey joined the team as Employment law advisers, with Safiya joining Napthens from DWF Law, where she managed an Employment Tribunal caseload, acting for both claimants and respondents.
Napthens said she has extensive experience advising on a wide range of Employment Tribunal proceedings.
Kaine Davey joins from a Manchester firm, where she assisted and managed large-scale private sector equal pay claims. She has particular experience working on large group litigation.
Both will provide general support to clients via Napthens’ HR3 annual retainer service, which includes Employment law and HR advice – and day-to-day support for clients’ HR functions.
Head of Napthens’ East Lancashire office, Oliver McCann, said:
“Our Employment team continues to grow to meet demand for our specialist service, in particular for our HR3 retainer – and Safiya and Kaine have experience that will be of great benefit to our clients.”
In December 2019, Napthens also announced that solicitor Rebecca Horne had joined the Litigation team from Taylors Solicitors.
She previously worked in a commercial law firm in Manchester before qualifying as a solicitor in 2017 – and holds a qualification as a civil and commercial mediator. She has developed specialisms in commercial contract, shareholder and intellectual property disputes, including trademark and copyright infringements.
Partner and head of Litigation at Napthens, David Bailey, said of her appointment:
“Unfortunately, most businesses will at some point need to consider what to do when things go wrong.
“This could be a routine contractual matter or a major issue which could threaten a company’s future – and this is where Napthens helps its clients.
“Rebecca’s background and specialisms mean she is well placed to advise our commercial clients on the wide range of disputes they may face now and in the future.”
Her appointment follows the appointments of solicitors James Freeman and Stewart Croft, who joined the Litigation team earlier in 2019.
